Domestic terminals T2 T3 — Sydney Airport parking
Domestic parking at T2 and T3
Flying Qantas, Virgin or Jetstar out of Sydney? Your car park sits on the domestic side of the airport, and the choice comes down to how close you want to be and how long you are leaving the car.
Self-park only in this guide: P2, P3 and Blu Emu. Valet lives separately — we point to it below.
The three domestic products
Sydney Airport lists P2, P3 and Blu Emu for domestic travellers. P2 and P3 are the multi-storey car parks next to T2 and T3. Blu Emu is the long-stay option further from the terminals, linked by a shuttle bus. All three are self-park. None of them is a valet product.
That split shapes every decision on this page. If you want to park, lock, and walk to check-in with your bags, you stay with P2 or P3. If you are leaving the car for a week or more and can allow extra time for a bus ride, Blu Emu enters the picture. Keeping valet out of this comparison avoids confusion at the entry barrier.
Compare valet parking optionsWalk-in park
P2 car park
Multi-storey self-park beside the domestic precinct. Undercover levels with a direct walk to T2 and T3. Suits short trips, business day returns, and anyone travelling with children or extra bags who wants no bus in the chain.
Walk-in park
P3 car park
The second multi-storey domestic option, with the same walk-to-terminal pattern as P2. Undercover bays apart from the rooftop. When one walk-in park shows no availability for your dates, check the other before changing plans.
Shuttle park
Blu Emu
Long-stay self-park set back from the terminals. You park once and ride the shuttle to the domestic terminals. Built for absences measured in weeks, where the lower daily cost outweighs the extra transfer time.
Parking sydney airport travellers book most for a two-night trip is P2 or P3. Airport parking for a fortnight leans to Blu Emu. Match the product to trip length first, terminal second.
Walk or ride
Walk time versus shuttle time decides your domestic park.
P2 and P3 let you walk to the domestic terminals rather than wait for a bus. Blu Emu trades that walk for a shuttle ride, which is why it costs less over long stays.
If you are cutting it fine on a morning departure, the walk-in car parks remove a variable. If you have time and a two-week trip, the shuttle is a fair trade — just allow the full transfer window both ways.
Undercover bays and the rooftop
P2, P3 and P7 are undercover except for their rooftop levels, which are open. That detail matters in Sydney's summer and storm season. If you want shade for the whole trip, aim for a lower level rather than the top deck.
Rooftop bays are still legitimate parking, just exposed. On a hot week they collect heat and dust; after heavy rain they dry first. For sydney airport parking in January or during storm cells, the extra minute to circle down a level is usually worth it.
- Choose a deck below the roof for full cover on longer stays.
- Note your level and bay row before you walk away — decks look alike on return.
- Leave sunshades and a light cabin tidy; cars sit for days in warm air.
Long stay
When Blu Emu makes sense
Blu Emu is built for longer absences. The shuttle runs between the car park and the domestic terminals, so you park once and ride in. For a weekend it rarely beats the walk-in car parks on total time.
For a fortnight or more, the gap in daily cost usually covers the shuttle inconvenience several times over. Pack so your overnight bag is easy to lift onto the bus, keep keys and booking reference in a jacket pocket, and allow a buffer before check-in closes.
Planning
Pre-booking a domestic space
Domestic car parks can be reserved through the airport's pre-booking portal. Bookings are subject to availability, and the portal handles self-park products rather than valet.
Pre-booking suits school holidays and long weekends when the walk-in car parks fill. On a quiet Tuesday you can also drive up and pay on the day. Either way, check entry height, terminal direction, and whether your dates cross a peak period.
Read how pre-booking works
Have number plate, dates and terminal handy. The lane moves quickly when drivers arrive ready.
Accessible and motorcycle parking
Accessible bays are available for permit holders across the domestic car parks. Motorcycle parking is listed as its own product, separate from the standard car bays, so riders should check that page before arriving.
Both are worth sorting before you travel rather than at the barrier. Keep the permit visible for the full stay, and for bikes confirm the designated area — standard car bays and motorcycle areas are managed differently.
If you work at the domestic airport
Staff parking is provided in the domestic long-term car park. Contractors and their employees are expected to park in the public car parks instead, and there is no dedicated contractor product.
Staff parking questions go to the airport's dedicated email contact, not the booking portal. If you are visiting for work for a single day, use P2 or P3 as a public customer and keep a receipt for expenses.
Send us a domestic parking questionValet on the domestic side
Valet exists domestically even though P2, P3 and Blu Emu do not offer it. Qantas Valet is the airline-linked option for domestic flyers, and FastPark Valet sits in the same group of valet products.
These have their own drop-off points, so follow the directions for the specific service you book. Do not drive to a P2 entry expecting a valet handover — you will be turned around and lose time before your flight. Book the named valet, then navigate to its kerb.
Domestic parking questions
Is P2 or P3 better for T2 and T3?
Both sit beside the domestic terminals and offer undercover bays apart from the rooftop. Pick whichever has availability for your dates; the walk to the terminal is similar.
How often does the Blu Emu shuttle run?
The shuttle connects Blu Emu with the domestic terminals. Check the current timetable on the airport's Blu Emu page before you travel, since schedules can change.
Can I pre-book a domestic car park?
Yes. P2, P3 and Blu Emu can be reserved through the pre-booking portal, subject to availability.
Is there valet parking for domestic flights?
Yes, though not in P2, P3 or Blu Emu. Qantas Valet and FastPark Valet are the domestic valet products.
Know your terminal, then lock the right bay.
